YAFA's Student Fair and The First Gathering of the Semester!

100 Societies Do Battle - The Student Fair

On the 23rd and 24th March, the Youth Association for Foreign Affairs braved the hot and windy weather to battle with hundreds of other PKU societies for new members. Armed with photo-booth props, caramel sweets and leaflets, members of the YAFA Organisation Team spoke with browsing students, spreading the word about our goals and the events we have in store for this semester.

Many of those we spoke to expressed an interest in our upcoming visit from the Croatian Ambassador to China Nebojsa Koharovic and our trip to the Japanese Embassy in May, and picked up their shiny new YAFA passport (now both an 'official' and seasonal version are available, thanks to our wonderful design team). Others told us that they were excited about the opportunity to make more friends and practice their language skills. All in all, over 100 new members joined the association, and the YAFA Organisation Team is looking forward to providing fun and interesting events for you all.

The First YAFA Gathering of the Semester

60 of our members also bought tickets to our first YAFA Gathering of the semester, with more on the waiting list. This was a chance for everyone to get together and get to know one another. After the Organisation Team introduced themselves and the organisation, everyone started chatting with the help of a few ice-breaker games, including The Human Knot, Truth and Dare, Leaves and Trees and a Raffle. Nothing brings people together like a little bit of silliness and a good laugh! With a pile of snacks and refreshing drinks waiting afterwards, the event was a real success. Thank you everyone for taking part!

We had a blast organising these events for our YAFA community, and we hope that everyone involved had a great time! There are more embassy lectures and social events to announce soon, so keep an eye out for updates on here our website and WeChat platform. We hope to see you there!
